I haven't been here in a while and was craving it, so decided to drive over to pick up dinner. I love their meat jun. It's flavorful and they give a lot. I also enjoy that they don't skimp on the amount of sauce they give. I LOVE their kimchi. I like the flavor of it. The other banchans are just ok for me. I will probably ask for all kimchi next time and see if they can make that happen. Definitely more expensive for dinner, so I think the lunch special is better. However, I was fine with the dinner price since I was craving it.

Food was delicious! Thumbs up to the spicy chicken Katsu! Servers were friendly and gave us recommendations on what to order. This is our first time and it did not disappoint. We will definitely come back again.

I regularly ate here for 20 years so on a trip back. I had to eat here. It was so good, we went twice. Love the combo lunch ($21) but you get so much, so flavorful and I have a hard time deciding on 3 choices. I love their clear turnip soup, kim chee and veggies. The meat jhun is so tender it almost melts in your mouth...spicy is spicy so think twice before ordering the spicy bbq but if you like spice hot it is good. The kalbi, mandoo and long rice are winners too.tge service is attebtive. Family owned not a fancy place but so good. In the Aikahi Shopping Center...one of the few restaurants that I dont mind waiting in line for a table.

They're back open for sit down dining! Be sure to try the sizzling Kalbi and spicy chicken katsu but ask for the spicy sauce on the side so you still get both the regular katsu sauce with the spicy. They also have a really good kimchee which I purchase by the half pound container if they have enough to sell.

The restaurant is getting ready to celebrate their 33rd year in business. That is an amazing feat these days! The food was authentic as I've lived in Korea. Their kimchi is excellent which is provided with 5 other small tasteful dishes. Ours were potatoes, firm tofu, bean sprouts, shredded radish and kimchi to be exact. We sat in comfortable booths and the four of us enjoyed our meals. The parking is great at the restaurant is in a huge parking lot with a Safeway and other restaurants. I wanted to try their special but I thought maybe when I was a bit more hungry and had a bit more money as it was the most expensive selection on the menu. Obviously they're doing something right as it was busy at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. They close at 8 pm so get there before 7 or you might have to order it "takeout" after 7:30-45.

Soooo Ono! Willow Tree restaurant in Kailua was our Saturday dinner choice. We got it right before the dinner rushed, and it got packed really quickly. I give them credit as they handled the rush like a boss. The people who were eating in and the people who picked up phone orders. Speaking of phone orders that was going off the hook as well. The two waitresses were on point and never got frazzled with all that was happening. They apologized for the delay in food delivery, and they also advised the people walking in of the estimated wait time. That was AWESOME. Ok, now the food - I ordered BBQ chicken ($18.95), and she got the meat juhn ($19.95). Both tender and packed with flavor. The banchan was also so Ono. So if you're in the Kailua area, check them out and thank me later. The ambiance is good. Nothing fancy but she go!

Willow Tree has pretty great Korean food. I've noticed that prices have gone up and that a plate will cost you about $20, but I keep coming back because it's delicious and there aren't that many good Korean restaurants on in Kailua. I like the spicy chicken katsu, the meat jun and the kalbi. The interior is kind of old, but it feels homey. The waitstaff is nice, too. There are only about ten 2 or 4 top tables, so this isn't a place for large groups of people. The line to get in can get long too if you're coming during peak lunch or dinner times. On my most recent visit, I called in my order and I guess the girl misheard me, because when I went in to pick up my order, it wasn't right. But I paid for what they made and I ate it because I was kind of in a rush to get somewhere. I really wanted an appetizer /side order of Mandoo, but instead was given a Mandoo plate. It came in two full sized take out containers. The girls working looked kind of young, so I wonder if they only have certain workers working at certain times. I went in around 4:30pm, which was very much before the dinner rush since I know there is usually a line during lunch and dinner. If you eat in, you get a small bowl of soup and a few banchan. It's kind of small portions and not refillable. The radish soup that is served with entrees is pretty delicious, but I wouldn't just come here for the radish soup. I should really try other things on the menu because I'm sure it's all good.

Service - five stars. Ambiance - four stars because the booths are well separated. Food - four stars. We all had a lunch combo of some kind. It's the best deal and you get three choices for $18.95. While not an over abundance of food like some Korean restaurants, there's definitely more than enough for regular sized appetites and will feed most with a larger appetite. They only serve kimchee instead of all the usual ban chan dishes, but not sure if it's because we all for lunch combos, where you can get veggies (Korean style picked veggies that usually has sea weed, but not here - just daikon and carrots), soy bean sprouts, cabbage salad with dressing, OR mac salad. We all opted for the veggies and each one was delicious. Oh yes, the kimchee was very good, too. First combo was fried mundoo, meat Jun, bbq chicken. Second was fried mundoo, fish Jun, meat Jun. Third was fish Jun, meat Jun, bbq chicken. Everyone enjoyed their food. I thought the fish Jun was a tad bit dry, but it was definitely ok. Meat Jun was tender. Fried mundoo was tasty. Sauces were good. The fish and meat Jun came with a non-spicy sauce, The mundoo sauce was a tiny bit spicy. Rice came in a separate bowl and was enough. Ordered a side of meat Jun to go for dinner. Amount of meat was on for the price. Family thought the meat was tender and enjoyed it. I would eat here again if I'm in the area but wouldn't make a special trip out. Would not get the fish Jun (it really was ok, just not as good as the other items). It was busy but not packed the day we were there (Wednesday). (We arrived right at 11. There were two other groups there at opening, too.) Friend said it gets really busy for dinner so I guess you need to get there early. Note: you can create a two choice combo from the general dishes (plates) for $1 more than the more expensive entree.
